FEATURED CAT

My name is Ariel and I came to C.A.R.E.S. 4 years ago. I was 7 years old at the time. Before I came here, I had a wonderful life living with my brother Caesar in the home of our human mother. I know she loved and cared for us dearly. She gave us the best of everything as we were her “children”.
Then one day there was a terrible car accident and my life changed. My human mother was killed and she had no close relatives who could take us except for a cousin up country. A good friend of my mother helped Caesar and I find temporary boarding at C.A.R.E.S. for a month until the cousin could come down and get us.
The cousin told the C.A.R.E.S. people that her plans were to change Caesar and I into outdoor/indoor cats. A cat door would be installed and we were to learn how to use it and do our “business” outside. I had a real hard time with this. I just couldn’t seem to do it like my brother could. So, I had a few accidents as there was no litter box in the house. This was unacceptable to the cousin.
Fortunately, one of the C.A.R.E.S. people had told the cousin that C.A.R.E.S. would take us back if things didn’t work out. Seems she had a feeling that I wouldn’t adjust to country life. The cousin kept my brother and returned me to C.A.R.E.S. I am very thankful for this.
It took me a long while to adjust to shelter life. I was very overwhelmed and stressed with so many other cats to live with. It was so different from the quiet life I once knew. I sometimes took out my stress by smacking a few people, but I really didn’t mean it. I really did want to be loved.
I’m a little more seasoned now with the passing of time. The C.A.R.E.S. people have been very good to me and I do show them my appreciation. But there’s nothing like a real loving home and I still keep hoping that someone special will come along and adopt me and give me a forever home.
Could you be that special person? If so, come and meet me. Love, Ariel.

If you would like to meet Ariel, please call our shelter line at 604.532.5632 or e-mail to: adoptions@carescatshelter.com. Thank you.
